ASIO's Technologist Graduate Program is a 12 month (hands-on) program designed to showcase and prepare new starters for the breadth of technical work that occurs within a frontline intelligence agency. The environment is dynamic, challenging and fast-paced.
The Technologist Graduate Program commences in January 2021, during which you may be involved in just some of the following activities (for which we'll prepare you accordingly):
• using neural networks to advance operational efforts;
• undertaking complex data analysis and visualisation;
• applying software development skills to exploit technically-collected data;
• using hardware and software to develop and automate services;
• assuring the ongoing security of ASIO's ICT infrastructure;
• supporting cybersecurity investigations;
• conducting forensic analysis of digital media;
• provisioning warranted and open-source technical collection capabilities, such as telecommunications interceptions;
• evaluating Technical Surveillance Counter Measures; and
• engineering field-deployable technical solutions.
If you'd like to be considered for this diverse and stimulating graduate program, you must have completed – or be in the final year of – a degree of technical relevance, which includes, but is not limited to, the following disciplines:
• data science & analytics;
• cyber/information security/comsci;
• ICT systems integration and management;
• software development;
• network and systems engineering;
• telecommunications;
• mechanical engineering; and
• emerging technologies.
You must also be willing to relocate to Canberra (noting ASIO will cover removalist costs and initial accommodation if so required).

• An Australian citizen; and
• Assessed as suitable to hold and maintain a Positive Vetting security clearance.
The recruitment process to participate in the Technologist Graduate Program generally takes 6-12 months to complete. To enable your application to be processed through the various stages we need to be able to contact and sufficiently engage with you.
