Join BDO as an Accounting Vacationer in our Business Services team in January 2025!
BDO is one of the world’s leading audit, accounting, advisory and consulting firms. We provide a range of services to clients of all sizes and industries across Australia.
As a vacationer you’ll see firsthand how our Business Services team work closely with clients of all types and sizes, in every sector - construction, retail, hospitality, not-for-profit - and provide a range of personalised accounting, tax and compliance, and advisory services.
In your role you will be exposed to a wide range of accounting services such as, bookkeeping, payroll, preparation of activity statements, income tax returns and financial statements, and have the opportunity to liaise with the ATO on behalf of clients, and draft client , prepare documents for client meetings and more.

What you’ll offer:
- Your knowledge from your current studies accounting degree or relevant undergraduate or postgraduate CA/CPA eligible degree.
- You will be in your penultimate or final year!
- Your availability to commence in either November 2024 or January 2025 for 4 weeks. Length of program and available intakes may vary in each location.

I am given a fair amount of responsibility, and plenty of support to learn.
Checking emails, liaising with clients to receive information on their R&D activities, writing/drafting activities according to AusIndustry guidelines/ITAA legislation. Calculating financial incentives and meeting with clients.
Admin tasks including note taking, setting up meeting and powerpoint/word templates, writing and research tasks

Pros
The culture in and out of the office is great.
My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.
Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.
Never any pressure to stay late.
The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.
Cons
Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.
The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.
Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.
Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.
Could include more women, however this is the industry.
