Current Opportunity

The BDO Sunshine Coast office, located in Maroochydore, is growing and looking for Graduates to join in the new year. We are looking for someone intent on delivering exceptional client service and being part of the evolution of the delivery of professional services. The ideal candidate is keen to engage with colleagues and clients as the role provides the opportunity to work hands on with senior staff members across both Audit and Business Services teams.

What sets our Audit and Business Services specialists apart is their ability to provide exceptional personal service that results in strong relationships however large or small the organisation happens to be.

Their advice is based on a deep understanding of all stages of business growth and is underpinned by a wealth of knowledge and experience in a wide range of industry sectors and the ability to understand not only their clients’ business needs, but also their family needs and their personal wealth needs. By freeing up our client’s visibility and flexibility in these areas, you allow them the opportunity to focus on growing their business, become more efficient – and ultimately, more competitive.

Our Graduate opportunity will allow for you to:

  • Get to know the Audit and Business Services team and the clients they’re all currently working on
  • Receive exposure to a large variety of client industries & needs
  • Begin experiencing taxation structuring, planning, compliance & financial reporting
  • Exposure to audit a mix of large and small clients, both public and private
  • Receive excellent mentoring and support over your Vacation Program period
  • Work alongside a highly experienced and supportive team, and have the opportunity to grow your accounting skills in a professional services environment

What you’ll need to succeed

We welcome students who:

  • Are currently in their final year (or recently completed) a Bachelor of Commerce, Business, Postgraduate or similar degrees, majoring in Accounting
  • Will be eligible for CA/CPA postgraduate study
  • Display solid academic achievement
  • Are involved in extra-curricular activities
  • Are a dynamic team player with an innovative approach to work and life
  • Have motivation for continuous learning and development
  • Are an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent resident at time of application

What happens after you apply?

  • You will receive an email confirming our receipt of your application
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete an online video interview and psychometric testing
  • Successful candidates will be invited to interview by Monday, 04 October 2021.

Checking emails, liaising with clients to receive information on their R&D activities, writing/drafting activities according to AusIndustry guidelines/ITAA legislation. Calculating financial incentives and meeting with clients.

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
