An Experience in the Business Restructuring Team 

BDO Business Restructuring (BDO BR) provides solutions to clients who require support to restructure their operations or finances due to cash flow or viability challenges. This may include working with financiers to acquire new finance or to sell assets to reduce debt. BDO BR works with clients across varied industries and for all forms of corporate and personal insolvency engagements.

We are excited to offer Vacation opportunities to join BDO’s Business Restructuring team. As a Vacationer in our Business Restructuring team, you will:

  • Build your knowledge of corporate and personal insolvency matters
  • Shadow client calls, meetings and site inspections
  • Contribute to securing assets and records
  • Be trained in forensic investigations
  • Gain exposure to clients which are diverse in size, sector and requirements
  • Engage in regular social activities enabling you to meet and connect with our people
  • Participate in tailored peer group initiatives with your Vacation cohort
  • Access mentoring and support throughout your placement (including a dedicated Buddy to guide you along the way)
  • Build practical work experience within a global firm where exceptional service delivery, collaboration, empathy and integrity are part of our culture and values (ONE, BOLD, HUMAN, HEART and STRIVE)

About You  

We welcome students who:

  • Are in their penultimate year working towards a degree in, but not limited to, Finance, Accounting, Business, or Commerce. Subjects in Law may be advantageous.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Enjoy working in a team environment and collaborating with others
  • Have a genuine interest and desire to gain experience in this space.

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
