Your Career Opportunity

As our business continues to grow, we have a range of positions available across our offices.

In Melbourne we currently have graduate opportunities in the teams outlined below. As part of your application process, we encourage you to select two teams so if your first preference is unavailable, we will consider your second preference. Weโ€™re really interested in you joining us and embarking on your career, therefore you will also be asked to select your preferred commencement date.

At BDO we offer flexibility across our student programs and understand you may wish to obtain real work experience while finishing university. Upon application youโ€™ll be asked whether you are open to joining us in a part-time capacity prior to your Graduate cohort commencing for you to start learning about our culture and the interesting work we do in your chosen team. Please note, your availability for this does note effect your Graduate application.

What you need to succeed

  • You are a student in your final year or have recently completed an eligible university degree for the teams you are applying for
  • If you are interested in postgraduate studies, ensure you meet the eligibility requirements specified by the provider. i.e. Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ)
  • We want you to be involved with our clients and real work from day one! Youโ€™ll bring confidence in your communication and interpersonal skills for BDO to continue in delivering excellence in client service
  • Aptitude towards adaptability alongside being naturally inquisitive to position BDO strongly for the future

What happens after you apply? 

  • You will receive an email confirming receipt of your application
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete an online video interview and psychometric testing
  • Successful applicants will then be invited to attend an assessment centre no later than May 2022
  • Offers will be made shortly after you complete your assessment centre process

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
