Vision

We’re proud to say that 3.5% of Coles Group team members identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, making us one of the largest private sector employers of Indigenous Australians. In addition, we’re connected to more than 60 Indigenous businesses through our supply chain and are taking steps every day in furthering understanding and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, knowledge, and rights across our business. Providing employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is an important part of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). For more information about our RAP, please visit our website.

About the Program

From day one as a Coles graduate, you’ll feel the connection your work has to our purpose, to "helping Australians eat and live better every day". You will be accountable for making decisions in providing food, drink and home solutions that are delicious, sustainable and healthy for our customers and ensuring to deliver a consistent experience for our customers every day, both in-store and online. Our Store Support Centre (SSC) Graduate Program will help to fast track your career in our Store Support Centre, which plays a crucial role in supporting our team members across the country. Based in our Melbourne corporate office, you will see first-hand how we operate and innovate to continually improve our customer experiences across all our categories and brands. You'll gain a mix of technical, operational and leadership skills working with key figures within our business.

You will also be able to work in groups to complete an Innovation Project, where the top teams present to our Executive team on a genuine business challenge.

We will support your passion and graduate journey with experiences and opportunities, with each rotation expanding your knowledge as you continue to discover Coles and yourself. Our Indigenous Careers Team, who are fully committed to supporting Indigenous individuals, will be available to assist you throughout the application process and during the program's completion.

Pros and cons of working at Coles

Pros

  • Coles is extremely flexible and caters well to the cohort in the office.

  • There are many development and growth opportunities available to graduates to continuously improve and enhance their career.

  • Line managers and leaders are always willing to give you time to upskill and grow.

  • The flexibility of the role is a definite highlight, allowing me to not only thrive in my role but also put myself first.

  • The culture here is great and people are willing to help me when I ask.

Cons

    • Being such a large organisation can be daunting and learning how it operates to be able to complete your role can be frustrating at times.

    • The systems are a little outdated.

    • It's such a large business it can feel not very personable.

    • Of course, this is heavily influenced by the individuals that make up a respective intake of graduates, but there is great opportunity and breadth of graduates from different departments to be exposed to and build meaningful connections with.

    • Can be very fast paced and complicated to navigate such a large organisation.
