Are you a passionate Chemistry / Geoscience student looking to build a career in an industry and company that is making a positive difference for Aotearoa, New Zealand!

Contact needs your energy to help decarbonise Aotearoa and safeguard the planet for future generations.

You will work with passionate members of the Contact Energy team who are excited to share their knowledge of the energy industry with you, we can guarantee no two days will be the same!

The Graduate Development Programme commences in February 2025 and is an 18-month rotational programme. At the conclusion of the programme, you will transition into a permanent role within our Reservoir Operations and Asset team.

  • Learn different skillsets required to operate and manage the geothermal reservoir wells and generating plant.
  • Work with various subsurface and development teams and alongside various engineers, scientists and technicians that contribute to the sustainable management of our complex geothermal systems.
  • Get the opportunity to analyse geochemical data by taking chemical samples out at our steam fields.

We can teach you the skills you need to succeed, what’s important for us is diversity of thought, so it is important to just be yourself! So, if these behaviours and values align with yours then perhaps, we are the company for you.

The thing about my job it’s not too far removed from the real world. It’s easy to see how decisions made in the office influence the power generation that fuels New Zealand. Plus, the power industry is very interesting.

It can be frustrating at times, but seeing the client’s vision come to life and knowing that the intended audience will hopefully take something away from it, really makes the job worth it.
