As long as you’re passionate about technology and finding out how things work, you’re able to do it.

What’s your job about?

The main goal for an IT System Administrator is to ensure end-users are able to be productive without any sort of hindrance that may affect their work. My daily activities include troubleshooting and following up on technical issues that users encounter on our internal systems. On some days, this can range from hosting IT onboarding sessions for new hires to troubleshooting network connectivity issues remotely.

What’s your background?

I was born in Malaysia, but I moved back to Australia 6 years ago to complete my senior year of high school. After that, I pursued my BSCIT degree at the University of Technology Sydney and majored in Cybersecurity, Networking and Business Information Systems Management.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Yes, absolutely! As long as you’re passionate about technology and finding out how things work, you’re able to do it.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

The coolest thing about my job is that I get to interact with almost everyone within CrowdStrike on a daily basis. Another bonus of my job is that I get to test out new and latest technologies before they get fully implemented for operation.

What are the limitations of your job?

This job can be stressful at times, especially during busy days. You will need to have a high level of attention to detail to pick up hidden details to resolve issues efficiently. However, the feeling after a day of honest work far outweighs the limitations.

What is your team like?

The IT service desk team is like a big family to me. From my experience, I have felt nothing but welcoming and inspired to work with a diverse bunch of people from the US, EU, EMEA and India. Whenever I run into tricky situations, my team is always eager to provide me with guidance and advice to resolve the issue effectively. Being a junior member of an established team, you can bet your top dollar that you’re going to receive insightful career, life, and financial advice from veterans within the industry.

How do you feel your job plays an important role in society/to the clients?

Even though my job does not interact directly with clients of CrowdStrike, it still plays a significant role in internal company operations. With internal operations running smoothly, it ensures operational stability and enables everyone here at CrowdStrike to have an optimal environment to be productive.

How do you network and interact with other people at CrowdStrike?

I’m currently working under the hybrid model (3 days in the office, 2 days WFH). Surprisingly, I don’t think working from home affects my ability to network with other people. Being in a customer-facing environment, I often find myself talking and interacting with others every day no matter the location.
