Eclipse Trading is one of Asia's leading proprietary derivatives trading firms. Founded in 2007, we have over 100 employees across three office locations – Hong Kong (our HQ), Sydney, and Shanghai. Our trading expertise and strategies are deployed across several Asian markets and although we mainly specialise in equity derivatives, we also trade delta one, ETFs, commodity derivatives, and crypto currency products. Technology is inextricably linked to our trading strategies, creating an environment powered by intellectual curiosity, problem solving, and innovation.

Graduates who thrive on problem solving and working in a fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment are strongly encouraged to APPLY!

The opportunity

The successful candidate will take part in a comprehensive 8-week training program in our headquarters in Hong Kong, rotating through various teams across Software Development, Quant, and IT Operations. You will learn under the guidance of an experienced mentor, and your work will be used in actual production, having a direct impact on our trading and market activities.

The Team

Technology is critical to our business at Eclipse and our ability to flexibly analyse data in realtime is core to what we do. The Frameworks team is responsible for core Java components of Eclipse’s derivatives trading system. Central to this is the realtime capture, analysis and distribution of market and trading system data. Technology developed by the Frameworks team is at the heart of an exciting program of greenfield projects through which we are re-architecting our trading stack around a stream processing paradigm built using Kafka and Kafka Streams. The team empowers users by providing them with easy access to clean, well defined data in a simple, language independent way.

Pros and cons of working at Eclipse Trading

Pros

  • A large range of new concepts that take a long time to learn and master, so it's never really monotonous.

  • Work-life balance.

  • Fixed working hours, flat structure, fast-paced learning environment.

  • Challenging with a lot of responsibilities from the get-go, but the people around me are always happy to help.

  • Casual dress code

Cons

    • Workload can get a bit heavy especially for juniors as we lack the necessary skills to complete tasks in time.

    • Definitely gets a bit intense sometimes, but that's part in parcel of a job in this industry.

    • Need to have basic knowledge/interest in the financial markets.
