Please describe the interview process and assessments.
Long process
Graduate, Wellington - 08 Nov 2023
From what I remember... I applied online, then there were some online assessments. Then we had an in person graduate assessment center where we had some group activities and speed interviews. After that I was hired.
Graduate, Wellington - 08 Nov 2023
The interview process and assessments were enjoyable. Even though it is a heavy tech focused job with a need for coding skills, there were no specific coding questions in the process, instead it was more focused on the math and logic skills that translate well to coding.

I think it's quite good, everything is well communicated during the process. For my case, the process time was really fast as well. So I am satisfied with the recruitment process
Graduate, Wellington - 07 Nov 2023
I had a phone interview and online assessment. Later I was invited to attend the assessment day. Quite a clear and straightforward process. I really appreciate it.
Graduate, Wellington - 05 Nov 2023
It is a little bit hard and has too many questions to do.
Graduate, Auckland - 29 Oct 2023
Very thorough and multiple stages
Graduate, Wellington - 25 Oct 2023
Structured and well-organised for the most part. Lots of different stages, which was frustrating, and it took a really long time after the assessments were done for me to receive an offer.

Process was nice and easy. Full support from HR team. Assessments took a lot of time and effort but that is exactly what you expect when applying to such a position. Mostly questions about logic, math, coding etc
Graduate, Auckland - 25 Oct 2023
The process is smooth, start with online IQ, logic and behaviour tests. Second round, record some videos for the previous what you done. Then check your grade, after that is the Assessment Centre. Have a group interview, individual math, logic and estimation test. And a behavior interview in the end.

There are a lot of assessments!
Graduate, Wellington - 25 Oct 2023
I had to take a few tests after applying, then was asked to come to an assessment day where I did a combination of solo and group assessments, and also had my 1:1 interview on that day. The solo tests revolved around maths, estimation, logic and some general technical knowledge. I felt like they did a good job of taking a lot of different things into consideration, and they're good at taking into consideration the high pressure environment of an assessment day when looking at your results

1. Online prescreening test, some basic coding questions and some logic questions. 2. Assessment centre, some more logic/math questions + a coding group activity + 1on1 fit interview

Tough
Graduate, Wellington - 24 Oct 2023
Low rating for reasons that I can't disclose without immediately removing my anonymity. Similarly can't disclose much about the process taken for that reason.
Graduate, Wellington - 24 Oct 2023
Two interviews and a grad assessment day.
Graduate, Wellington - 24 Oct 2023
Pretty standard technical and cultural interview by software standards. Offered across in person assessment centers and online ones.
Graduate, Wellington - 24 Oct 2023
What questions were you asked in your interviews?
I was asked math, logic, and estimation questions. We had a group activity where we had to debug an issue. Also had a 'culture' interview that was like 20 mins.
Graduate, Wellington - 08 Nov 2023
Typical behavioral and motivational questions were asked but my interviewer also asked a lot of personal questions that we were able to connect with.
Graduate, Wellington - 08 Nov 2023
Can you do overtime work?
Graduate, Wellington - 08 Nov 2023
Technical questions like math, logic, and estimation, then followed by fit interviews
Graduate, Wellington - 07 Nov 2023
Like how do you think work on business ? What do you think of criticism?
Graduate, Wellington - 05 Nov 2023
Some questions about math and logic, some questions about estimate and group project.
Graduate, Auckland - 29 Oct 2023
How long it will take you to walk along the coast of Australia.
Graduate, Auckland - 25 Oct 2023
I was asked to describe something I'd done at uni recently that gave me a sense of accomplishment, as well as the basic "describe your weaknesses" and "what made you want to work here" questions. I can't remember many other questions as my interview was also quite conversational, and they asked a lot of follow up questions to do with my answers
Graduate, Wellington - 25 Oct 2023
Whether I would work over time. Many logic and behavioural problems.
Graduate, Wellington - 25 Oct 2023
Technical, behavioural and estimation questions.

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
Advice I would give is to go through the website thoroughly and see how you relate to the company values as it is a big part of the company and the interviewers love hearing about it.
Graduate, Wellington - 08 Nov 2023
I think grades are weighted reasonably heavy and same as the tests. Just do your best really and be affable and friendly.
Graduate, Wellington - 08 Nov 2023
Do your research well about FNZ, especially what we do and our culture.
Graduate, Wellington - 07 Nov 2023
Just come and try. Don't be afraid, just need to be confident.
Graduate, Wellington - 05 Nov 2023
Brush up on SQL, and get plenty of sleep the night before the assessment centre.
Graduate, Wellington - 25 Oct 2023
Stay sharp and always try to explain your logic how you ended up with your answer. Wright one or wrong one
Graduate, Auckland - 25 Oct 2023
Be yourself. And always be positive.
Graduate, Auckland - 25 Oct 2023
Be ready to answer questions about overtime. Do some practice on general iq type questions like pattern recognition etc.
Graduate, Wellington - 25 Oct 2023
Research the company, work culture and the types of problem solving questions they ask in interviews
Graduate, Wellington - 25 Oct 2023
You can't really prepare much for the tests, as the technical knowledge is only a small part. The main consideration is the interview, they really want to find someone they think will be a good fit for the company. If you want to do well in that, learn what the goal of the company is and be open to change and trying new things. They want people that genuinely want to learn and grow at the company, and it can be a high pace environment that requires flexibility
Graduate, Wellington - 25 Oct 2023
Be your best self.

The technical side of the application process was (imo) extremely basic. Would focus more on soft skills side of things. Much harder to prep on soft skills unfortunately, but if you've got some past experiences that illustrate soft skills (group projects in Uni which turned out well, areas where strong communication skills helped you in previous jobs, a particular challenge where you came up with a creative solution), think about how best to bring those up. Also keep in mind that FNZ is looking for a particular culture fit; if you can tie in some of your soft skills to their values ('customer obsessed for the long term', 'Think big and make an impact', 'Act now and own it all the way', and 'challenge, commit, and win together'), they'll be pretty happy with that.
