A Vacation Program with a difference

Taking place over 4-6 weeks, our Vacation Program offers you a unique insight into what it’s like to provide accounting and advisory services to a wide range of complex and dynamic clients and experience what life might be like as a Graduate with us.  Our approach is simple: we provide you with remarkable support, remarkable exposure and the opportunity to make a remarkable impact – allowing you to unlock your potential and explore a career filled with possibilities.

We have vacation program opportunities available across the following service lines:

  • Audit & Assurance
  • Private Business Tax & Advisory
  • Tax (including Corporate Tax and Specialist Tax)

Please note: Service line opportunities offered may vary between office locations.

Eligibility

International students who are studying at an Australian tertiary institution and hold a relevant visa are invited to complete an Expression of Interest to be considered for our graduate roles. We recommend you review our international student and graduate eligibility information before starting your application.

To be eligible to be considered for a 2025/2025 vacation program opportunity, you must:

  • Be in your penultimate or final year of your undergraduate or postgraduate studies; and
  • Hold a Student Visa (Subclass 500) or Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)

If you are an Australian/New Zealand citizen, a Permanent Resident of Australia or hold another visa type, please apply directly to our other opportunities.

Please note: Grant Thornton Australia will not sponsor students or graduates for residency. Successful candidates will be required, as a condition of their employment, to maintain a current visa or where relevant, to independently apply for and obtain permanent residency.

Pros

  • The people, culture and work-life balance.

  • Grant Thornton is truly an exceptional place to work. The firm really values diversity and inclusivity, and actively supports various charities.

  • The flexibility of home and office.

  • Exposure to a number of types of clients, good structure, really nice offices, good culture, other associates always ready to give you a hand.

  • 9 day working fortnights during quiet periods has been amazing. It helps incentivise me to finish my work earlier so I can get time off.

Cons

    • It seems that there is not much cross over between different service lines.

    • Sometimes you are required to work after hours.

    • Sometimes you will need to visit the client that is quite far away.

    • While the starting salary may be lower, the potential for growth and advancement is promising.

    • Lots of online training modules to complete at the beginning.
