About the opportunity
Our Finance Graduate Program builds on the experience gained from our successful program for legal graduates. The program promotes and supports an integrated approach to learning, where graduates build capability through a range of “formal” and “informal” learning experiences, ranging from day-to-day work activities, through to the more traditional face-to-face learning programs. We will provide a CA/CPA qualified mentor to support you through your professional accounting qualification.
Graduates will gain on the job experience by rotating through the different teams within our Finance Group to provide a strong understanding of the workings of a Finance group. This will include a number of shorter rotations in the operational areas of the Finance group and more substantial exposure to the Financial and Management accounting teams.
During the program you can expect to be involved with:
What qualifications and skills are we looking for?
We’ll also expect you to be curious to learn with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
You’ll want to get involved, roll up your sleeves and really immerse yourself in the learning and experience on offer. You’ll be calm under pressure, able to prioritise and have a strong client service attitude. It goes without saying that you have strong numerical skills and are proficient in using Microsoft Office software.

Drafting advices, researching, compiling information
As a grad in my first rotation, the first few weeks are full of lots of training sessions. The work I do depends largely on those more superior to me giving me tasks - these would typically involve legal research, reviewing documents and managing different work streams in a matter.
My day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing documents, legal research, editing documents, corresponding with clients and matter administration.

KWM has a strong culture, both within teams and as an organisation. There are many opportunities to socialise at both levels, and the teams in which I have worked have been tight- knit.
The level of training and support - you feel very well connected and resourced to be able to learn.
I have observed many opportunities for career progression at KWM. Those who demonstrate diligence, hard work and commitment are rewarded.
Very flexible. No issue at all. Very accommodating.
We get free corporate gym membership, after hours transport/dinner, and can swap pay for leave.
It is challenging to constantly try and perform at a high level.
In the morning, you're never quite sure if it's going to be a busy day.
While better than other firms at this from what I've heard, culture can be team-dependent.
As a junior the most difficult part is figuring out what practice area or team you want to join.
Fluctuating hours... work always comes first.
