As a Finance Graduate you will sit within the Finance and Business Services Group, headed up by the Chief Financial Officer, Janelle Hopkins. The Finance and Business Services team, or FaBS as we like to call them, is the engine room of the REA Group. The team is comprised of Finance Risk, Procurement, Pricing, Payments and Facilities Management team. What the role is all about:
We’re looking for talented grads wanting to work with some seriously switched-on folk who make the impossible possible. This means that you can expect every day to be fast, full of energy and never short of a challenge. The finance team provide strategic commercial input and guidance on decisions across all levels of the business, working hard to support our people, drive efficiencies, and maximise satisfaction for our customers, consumers and investors.
Our the 18-month rotational Graduate Program you will be immersed into the finance team where you will be exposed to all aspects of Finance business with a focus on Group Reporting, Risk and Assurance and Commercial Finance. We will help you collaborate with specialists across the business building your communication skills, ability to flex and influence in ways that’ll stretch and grow you.
You will:
- Assist in the preparation of statutory financial reporting;
- Support in management accounting (including the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts) and business partnering to elevate commercial acumen and financial accountability;
- Learn best practice Internal Audit Methodology including being part of executing and delivering the Sarbanes Oxley program; and
- Perform Operational, financial and IT audits across REA's business units.

Work productively in a fast-paced and agile environment - You have recently completed or will complete before February 2023 a
bachelor’s degree in commerce and/or Accounting or a combined Accounting & IT degree - Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- And finally, you love all things Finance!

Undoubtedly the best thing about working at REA Group is the culture. Socially the type of people working there are the best of the best, whilst being really sociable and the learning culture riddled throughout day to day work is strongly supported.
There are a lot of learning opportunities available. The work is diverse and generally quite interesting The people you work with are skilled and mostly very kind.
Great culture, inclusiveness and a lot of opportunities to learn. Also being able to work on projects that follow really good software development practices.
Internal training. Company culture. Autonomy and trust to get objectives done. Can pursue other adjacent special interest areas. Opportunities to move around the company to different areas and fields.

The culture! REA Group has done an incredible job of an inclusive, supporting and encouraging atmosphere.
Cons
Worst thing about REA Group is probably the size of the company as a graduate whilst working from home was very challenging during COVID. It's hard to have any real understanding of the business as such a large company whilst rotating through smaller teams.
Too many meetings sometimes.
Getting larger, with scaling comes more corporate structure but still good at allowing individuals to grow.
The fact that it is a large company. There is something like 800 people just working in the Melbourne office. It's impossible to know them all and sometimes that makes it hard to know who the right person to reach out too for certain tasks is.
