The work for intern psychologists in Darwin is varied and provides a strong base for working with people with a range of underlying developmental and mental health-related issues. Darwin's team completed a range of assessments with diverse client populations including:
The use of assessments relating to learning difficulties, executive functioning, depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc. is also utilised as appropriate. Psychological intervention, therapy and behaviour support services are provided using a diverse range of modalities inclusive of individual, family-based and service system interventions.
Their client groups are diverse, and while largely funded through NDIS and Territory Families, are inclusive of a wide range of presentations stemming from developmental trauma, developmental disability, neurodevelopmental disorders, traumatic brain injury, and mental health issues. While their office base and primary work is in Darwin, they also offer a range of opportunities to work regionally (e.g. Katherine, Alice Springs) and within remote Indigenous communities.
