Reviewing the customer requirements
Exploring and preparing the data source
Building a report
Understand the differences between using point and click and SAS code
Module 1: Access and explore the data sources (1 - 1.5 hours)
The data sources for our report must first be loaded into memory which has already been done. To use these files in SAS Studio we need to define a SAS library. We will then run the data sources through a simple task to see what information they contain.
Module 2: Prepare the data (30 minutes - 1 hour)
We have investigated the data sources and found that we will need to join 2 tables to get all of the information we need together in the one data set. We can also filter the rows and subset the columns before doing our reports on that result.
Module 3: Analyse the Data and Create Reports (1 - 2 hours)
We are now at the analysis and reporting phase. We need to create a report that uses summary tables as well as graphs to highlight the highest selling product lines from 2010-2011.
Module 4: Answering business questions from our results (30 minutes - 1 hour)
Our final job is to answer some questions based on the results we created in the previous module. These are some of the questions the management team would like answered as an initial step in our order analysis. They will then drill deeper if required.
