Your role

Join the undergraduate Vacation Program to gain hands-on industry experience in Unitywater’s dynamic and innovative organisation. These paid undergraduate positions are offered once a year for a 12-week placement over the summer holiday period (Nov 2024 - Feb 2025), working 4 days per week.

This year they have the following opportunities available:

Opportunity 1: Communications and Engagement

  • Scope content for good news stories related to infrastructure projects, participate in simple engagement exercises and develop collateral, create files of engagement plans and develop case studies.
  • Experience real-world construction, infrastructure and stakeholder engagement experience.

Opportunity 2: Graphic Design

  • Gain hands-on experience delivering print and digital communications, participate in refreshed brand identity project, develop and work on billing campaign.
  • Experience in branding rollout, image editing, design, and collaboration.

Opportunity 3: Innovation Challenge

  • Develop an Innovation Challenge statement, scope and objective. Determine success criteria, assessment plan and develop a communications and marketing plan. Work with the back-end of software to create an interactive website-style tool.
  • Build stakeholder engagement capabilities, software skills, creative style of thinking and communications skills.

Opportunity 4: Risk and Business Resilience

  • Resilience Program mapping of elements, Security Management Program support review and refresh, Enterprise Risk Management Program review and Power BI reporting tool development.
  • Gain exposure to end-to-end business resilience across the organisation and exposure to SOCI Act compliance.

Opportunity 5: Learning and Development

  • Gain professional development through full exposure to the Learning and Development function.
  • Experience Learning Management System setup, reporting, analysis, coordination, adult learning principles, training needs analysis and learning design.

  • Communications, Journalism, Stakeholder Engagement students

Graphic Design Qualification:

  • Design, Visual Communications students

Innovation Challenge Qualification:

  • Innovation, Business or Creative Intelligence students

Risk and Business Resilience Qualification:

  • Business, Commerce and Risk Management students

Learning and Development Qualification:

  • Human Resources, Learning and Development, Workplace Health & Safety students

Career progression

Some of the students who completed the Vacation Program were offered ongoing casual work and others moved straight into graduate positions in their Graduate Development Program. After the two years spent in the Graduate position, they offer permanent employment within the company.
