AECOM is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor in China.
Job Description
- Able to work independently to complete the measurement works including reviewing and checking.
- Participate and support in cost plan estimate, preparation of BOQ, tender and contract documents, review and negotiate for change order and final account etc.
Qualifications
- Diploma or above, major in project costing, construction management, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or other related disciplines.
- Familiar with method of measurements, code of valuation with bill of quantity works, quantities pricing software and drawing measurement software.
- Diligent, studious and hard-working.
- Possess Cost Engineer certificate or related professional certificate.

Reviews
Assisting with, and originating / checking engineering and non-engineering documents (calcs, datasheets, drawings, etc.)
Providing drafting and modelling for a range of projects, attending project meetings, minute taking, responding to internal emails, occasionally external emails, providing software support, coordinating internal teams, providing specialist advice for projects and bids
Super diverse, have been lucky enough to contribute to a wide range range of projects conducting a wide range of tasks. When you start, you'll likely have reasonably mundane tasks but as you build familiarity with the processes and rapport with project managers you will quickly get more challenging and interesting work.

The flexibility to work from home as I am completing a Masters so it is much easier to finish work and do uni from there rather than worry about commuting etc.
The culture across all teams is the best, AECOM hires GOOD people, not just technical people.

The flexibility with helping out in different teams during your graduate years helps you develop a variety of skills and explore which department might suit you best.
Cons
The pay is well below market rate.
Work alternates between being fast or slow, depending on projects won.
Lack of technical work initially, I have only just begun to be involved in technical work despite starting in early 2024.
The inconsistencies in the performance and rewards process.
There is a lot of pressure on billability, even when you cannot do much about it.
