Career Prospects
I am still at an early stage in my career, but the company seems to have good learning and development programmes in place (both formal organised programmes and informal support through day-to-day work in each team).
The company's projects/initiatives in pro bono legal work show its commitment to corporate social responsibility. I have been involved in some of this work and it has been a very rewarding experience to be able to give back by helping those who may not have bee able to access legal services otherwise.
The company's culture is positive both in the office and after hours. In the office, people at all levels of seniority are really friendly and always willing to answer any questions I have. The culture is also positive in terms of social events/activities, with the company encouraging people to get involved in a range of activities and events and socialise with people from all different teams in the company.
The company has a strong commitment to diversity through having dedicated committees related to a range of different groups (such as Pryde & Co, the company's LGBTQIA+ network ). These committees help to raise awareness of different diversity-related issues.
My role is very interesting and I have a diverse range of day-to-day responsibilities. I am given a degree of independence with tasks so that I am able to continue developing, while also having good support and guidance from those more senior than me in my team.
I am satisfied with my managers as they are good mentors and accessible to us. They provide valuable and considered feedback, which is very helpful in terms of learning and development.
The company's office space is open and spacious, with good facilities. It is also in a central location in the CBD, which is also really convenient. The dress code is mostly smart workwear, but also flexible depending on what you are doing that day.
The training and development programmes have been very good. One of the good programmes has been LegalLab, which is specially designed for Graduates and junior lawyers. It has taught me some valuable foundational skills, such as how to draft certain legal documents.
My company is flexible in relation to hours, taking into account people's individual situations and allowing them to work hours that suit their situation.
