Cultural & Linguistic Diversity at Department of the Treasury
“A Treasury workforce that reflects the diversity of Australians leads to better outcomes for all”
Treasury continues to identify and implement initiatives to celebrate and harness the unique skills, attributes and backgrounds of all individuals and teams, and to foster a work environment where there is opportunity for everyone to contribute, participate and achieve their full potential.
Culturally and/or Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds
Treasury recognises that cultural diversity is an inherent characteristic of Australian society. Treasury embraces the specialised skills, perspectives, and experiences of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) people and harnesses the value they bring to build culturally appropriate services and products for the broader Australian community.
Key points, initiatives and achievements
- Treasury’s CALD Network is an employee-led initiative that aims to foster inclusion, inform policies and procedures, and celebrate cultural and linguistic diversity at Treasury.
- The CALD Network has hosted many workshops and events, including hosting a roundtable with private sector partners on industry best practices for fostering culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) teams and CALD Conversations – a support forum held quarterly for CALD staff to raise concerns/share issues of lived experiences in Treasury
- Treasury is also a proud participant in the SBS Inclusion Program. They incorporate specialised CALD training modules in both their induction processes and celebrations of cultural and linguistic diversity, such as Harmony Week.
