DSV Story

The parent company, DSV A/S, started its journey from Denmark in 1976. The company has three divisions: DSV Road, DSV Air & Sea, and DSV Solutions. They have activities coming from the trucking network, sea freight, and air freight businesses around Europe. They have grown fast, mainly via mergers and acquisitions.

Culture & vibe

Contact and relations with colleagues, customers, and suppliers around the world is a natural part of the job. Therefore, the work environment is maintained dynamic and informal to allow the employees to speak their minds and move fast, so they can face the challenges head-on.

The company also believes that people can do great things when given the opportunity and support. Therefore, their local branches work autonomously and make decisions close to the customers.

Recruitment Process

The job areas include trainees, IT professionals, freight forwarders, finance specialists, salespeople, truck drivers, warehouse workers, and many more. With an unpredictable environment and challenges every day, the interested candidate should be an ambitious player with dedication and drive. Fluency in English is also required.

The internship students can learn many things in this company, especially related to exportation. They can arrange the documents or permits for export and record them, or deal with clients.

Fresh graduates and candidates can find the job openings on DSV’s website and apply. They can also explore the profiles of the employees and learn more about the reason why they work for DSV. The next steps of the recruitment are usually written tests, on-site interviews, phone calls/screening, problem-solving exercises, and background checks. DSV usually contact the candidate’s character reference to determine if they are hiring a good employee.

Since 2015, the company organizes a two-year international trainee program called Young DSV. The trainees will be provided with a combination of theoretical details and on-the-job training to form a strong foundation to start their careers.

The theoretical part will be somewhere in Europe, together with other trainees from different countries, while the practical part will take place at one of their local offices. However, fresh graduates should pay attention that not all DSV countries are recruiting trainees currently. They also need to hold a work permit for the country they are applying for.

As trainees, they will work with the company’s core services and learn all aspects of the job. They will be given the responsibility for their own haulers, shipments, and customers. They will negotiate the agreements, budgets, and processes, plan the logistics and shipping, and continuously monitor the shipments both locally and globally. After completing the two-year program, they can receive a business college diploma.

Remuneration & Career Growth

The company provides just compensation and benefits to the staff. The payroll is also good and responsive. A report suggests that the salary is above the national average.

For example, the salary of a financial controller at DSV Air & Sea ranges from PHP 89,500 to 97,800 per year, finance and accounting (PHP 232,000 – 250,000),  customer service staff (275,000-292,000), business support analyst (PHP 347,000 – 372,000), change management consultant (PHP 407,000 – 438,000), and human resource director (PHP 2 M).

DSV offers travel assistance, bonuses, and sometimes meal allowance.

For fresh graduates who are considering international career development, this company is a good place to start because they offer a massive network of possibilities.
