Recruitment Process

Shell recruits graduates from a wide range of disciplines. Handily, you can go to the degree matcher page on the Shell Philippines website to find out what kind of career path is available given your qualifications.

Depending on what area of the business they aspire to be part of, grads take part in development programs that last from two to five years.

The process starts with a brief online application that can be expedited if connected to your LinkedIn profile. After, it is possible you will need to do an online cognitive test, online working style assessment, and an online short, self-recorded video interview. If you make the cut, you’ll then be invited to take part in an online interview.

Finally, you will be invited to a nearby Shell office to meet with staff at all levels and learn more about what a career at Shell involves.

Remuneration & Career Growth

Shell says it offers a competitive starting salary and other benefits. Most grads are delighted with what one described as “great bonuses on top of amazing pay”. You may have the opportunity to work on global projects.

What Graduates Say About Them

When I compare Shell Philippines with other local Philippine companies, I have to say that we are extremely lucky (and more so, having entered through the Shell Graduate Program). 1) I like how we are performance-driven, and not time-driven. I have friends who work for local PH companies and are compensated basis amount of time they are working (which will be extremely demotivating if one is not given any work/not doing anything supremely value- adding). Because we are performance-driven at Shell, I think we get a certain amount of ﬂexibility as long as we produce the output required from us. 2) I love getting to work with people from all around the globe! I like hearing the diﬀerent perspectives they can bring to the table, and which are always shared in a very respectful manner; in turn, this helps me broaden the way I think and look at things. Local PH companies tend to have a homogenous way of looking at things. 3) Our amazing development plan and development conversations; leaders who are invested in your growth and partner with you to identify the best way forward for your career. I've had conversations with friends from local PH companies, and they are certainly not given the same opportunities we are; it sometimes takes them ages to move from one role to another within the same company, which usually results in their moving from one company to another. 4) Clarity in goal setting and expectations. I've realized that we are quite lucky in this space, too; some friends of mine do not even have this luxury (in their respective local PH companies). This makes performance rating quite challenging when the year comes to an end. 5) Beneﬁts! My friends in local PH companies are not given as many leaves as we are given and are certainly not compensated as well as we are. Kudos to our Policy and Beneﬁts team for rigorously ensuring that we are at par with our competitors and adjusting as needed!
Shell, for me, is a learning haven! From hands-on experience to formal programs, I'm constantly expanding my skills. Shell gears me up with transferable skills, giving my career a ﬂexibility boost.
There is lots of opportunity for growth and development.
The focus on people's health and safety is very evident, and the community is very welcoming to newcomers. Employees are encouraged to drive their own career development, and the company provides various opportunities for learning and growth.

Decision-making can sometimes be bureaucratic and take a lot of time, mostly because one has to consult numerous parties for their views and sign-oﬀ.
The bureaucracy can be a bit much. I get it—it's a massive ship to steer, and they're serious about protecting the brand and its people.
Complex processes.
There is still an existing negative perception of oil and gas companies globally.
Employee must take it into his own hands to ﬁnd learning opportunities either by learning by doing or seeking mentorship.
