I like how I am given some direction but do have some ability to be creative as long as it follows agency policies, accessibility, human centred design. I do reviews, content creation, research, editing, proof-reading.

Pros and cons of working at Services Australia

Pros

  • The flexibility of Services Australia is one of the great attractions of them.

  • Very secure job and not worried about redundancy.

  • The people are great, very helpful, welcoming, and nice.

  • Knowing that the work I am doing is making a difference in the lives of vulnerable people.

  • Work-life balance and catering to all kinds of working arrangements.

Cons

    • It's not the work I'd hoped to be doing, but it's not bad. I would like the work to be more challenging.

    • Technology is a consistent issue; our hardware does not keep up with the programs and applications we use.

    • Decision-making processes can be slower due to the hierarchical nature of the organisation.

    • The worst thing about working at Services Australia is the level of bureaucracy within the organisation.

    • The recruitment process was long, over 6 months. Communication was lax.
