Additional development programs are available after the grad program. Promotion off of the graduate program is guaranteed but beyond that is performance-based. They have different streams mixing between management and pure engineering.

Personally, I've been involved with having a presence at Science Alive every year since I’ve joined, as well as helping to run a youth science competition.

Very good culture. There is a horizontal structure; however, one generally feels heard. We catch up for social events every two months, which is great for team building. Each graduate is also assigned a mentor, whom you see once a month, and a functional manager, who is in charge of you on a day-to-day basis.

The company provides safe places free from discrimination. They take ethics pretty seriously with a large focus on inclusion in the workplace. Many people have been there a long time. They offer extended maternity leave and open arms when returning, even if it's a longer period than usual.

At times, the work can be very process- or administrative-based. However, in Contracts, the day-to-day is fulfilling and consists of contract reviews, clause drafting, negotiations, business improvement activities, etc.

My managers are very approachable and make excellent mentors. They organise regular catch ups to discuss work satisfaction, career goals, provide feedback, and seek feedback for themselves.

I was expecting defence to be all dark rooms and no windows. This isn't the case at all, there’s lots of plants that are watered regularly, as well as standing desks throughout. Some offices have lots of parking and dress code ranges from smart all the way down to semi-casual, depending on the stakeholders in the office at the time.

The company has put me up for thousands of dollars worth of training courses over the past two years. I’ve also got access to a lot of free ones, IE Red Hat Open Shift Developer which is free for all employees.

Company is generally quite flexible, days can be longer or shorter as long as the hours add up. Leave is also flexible, as well as the option for a 4-day week or 9-day fortnight for most employees.
